I am currently a trainee solicitor at Herbert Smith Freehills. Before joining the firm, I studied law at the University of York and completed vacation schemes at DLA Piper, Clifford Chance and Herbert Smith Freehills. I joined Aspiring Solicitors and later became an Academic Representative at the end of my first year of university. I first met Gemma and Chris at a Springboard event. I recall leaving the event feeling very overwhelmed. Attending Aspiring Solicitors events and having the assistance of Gemma and Chris were invaluable to my success. The Aspiring Solicitors team really helped me to appreciate my background, and to draw out the skills I developed from my experiences. However, I’d also reiterate that ascertaining a training contract is a very tough and thorough process, and in order to succeed you will need to become resilient. This is because there are likely to be times when you will face set-backs and this can be very disheartening. I therefore urge everyone to make full use of the opportunities Aspiring Solicitors has to offer. Diversity is important to me as it helps to ensure that the legal profession is representative of both our society and the clients who seek our advice. If anyone has any questions about Herbert Smith Freehills or about my experience of the application process, then please do not hesitate to get in touch.
