Profile:

I studied languages for my undergraduate degree and, upon graduating, began a career in marketing. After a couple of years, I started considering a move into the legal profession but had no legal experience or family connections to the law. As a non-law graduate, I also had limited knowledge of what a career in the law would entail and of the process of qualifying as a solicitor.

I was fortunate enough to be put in contact with a solicitor mentor who candidly explained the process of qualifying, as well as the upsides and challenges of a career in the law. This was invaluable in confirming that a move into the legal profession was right for me and in helping me prepare for what lay ahead.

I firmly believe in the importance of a diverse legal profession and in the fact that career changers and non-law graduates have a wealth of skills and experience to bring to the table. However, opportunities to obtain legal work experience and to find out more about working as a solicitor can be more limited for career changers and non-law graduates. I would be more than happy to discuss my own experiences with anyone interested in becoming a solicitor.
