My Law Firm

Profile:

I am an associate within RPC’s Construction / Insurance team. We specialise in acting for insurers and insureds defending a range of claims brought against construction professionals. We also advise on complex coverage disputes.

I began my legal career at the University of Sheffield as a LLB European and International Law student. My course involved spending a year studying abroad in Uppsala, Sweden where I had the time of my life!

After graduating with a 2:1 and a prize for environmental law, I spent a year as a Commercial Property Paralegal whilst looking for training contacts. With limited success, I eventually took a
Corporate Paralegal position in-house at a listed specialty insurer while continuing the hunt. After spending six months in the Corporate Paralegal role, I negotiated sponsorship of my LPC and training contract in-house. That meant completing my LPC part-time whilst working full time, which is no mean feat! My training contract included a brilliant six-month secondment to the Construction Litigation department of a US law firm.

Although I had loved my time in-house, on qualification I decided to move back to private practice. For me, culture was a really important part of choosing which firm to join. RPC is supportive and encourages everyone to be their authentic self, which in my view is essential for the creation of a happy and collaborative working environment.

I know how tricky it is to stay motivated through the gruelling application process. If my experience has taught me anything is that if you want something enough, have the right tools in place and are willing to work hard to get it, there’s nothing you can’t accomplish.
