My Law Firm

Profile:

At the age of 13, I moved to the UK from Poland without speaking any English. Despite facing challenges in adjusting to a new culture and language, I secured a place at the University of Hull to study law, graduating with a 2:1 in 2016.

With no professional connections in the UK, I found it difficult to envision my future as a graduate. However, my determination drove me to continue my education, and I completed a master’s degree in Public International Law at Queen Mary University of London. Despite my academic successes, I faced obstacles in advancing my career. While writing my master’s thesis, I persevered by knocking on doors and handing out my CVs at local high street firms, securing my first legal work experience. This three-week work experience turned into a full- time paralegal position.

I later moved to a regional claimant firm and completed a part-time LPC alongside a full-time paralegal job, supported by a part-scholarship from BPP. After completing my LPC with a Merit, I joined the DWF office in London as a paralegal. Within just nine months, one of the partners recognised my potential and encouraged me to apply for an internal training contract. I successfully navigated the interview process and was offered a training contract with the firm.

I am now halfway through the traineeship process and due to qualify in September 2025. My journey to qualification has been unconventional and lengthy, but it has underscored the importance of diversity in backgrounds, skills, and experiences in the legal industry.
