My Law Firm

Profile:

I am a first seat trainee at A&O Shearman of African-Asian heritage that came from a non-law background, studying international relations and history at the London School of Economics and Political Science. I have previously enrolled in various vacation schemes, open days, mini-pupillages and client internships and therefore believe I have ample experience to support candidates in their journey to becoming solicitors.

Diversity initiatives and mentoring opportunities have always been a particularly important facet of my professional life. Whilst at university, I tutored for a non-profit organisation which provided disadvantaged years five and six children with access to virtual education during the pandemic. Additionally, I also served as a mentor for the Black Excellence Network which provides personal mentorship for sixth form students submitting applications to Russell Group Universities.

I have also joined the executive committee of the Black Affinity Group at A&O Shearman. This requires that I support the group’s strategy, event-planning and identity to promote positive outcomes for Black affinity lawyers within the firm.

Diversity is an important means of promoting equality of opportunity and cultivating inclusive environments. Supporting initiatives or schemes are particularly enriching and help me provide support to the next generation of aspiring professionals.
