- First generation lawyer
I am a half British, half Sri Lankan, mature career-changer and aspiring commercial technology/TMT lawyer, with a background in business development within the wider technology sector, including roles within online betting and gaming and marketing and mobile technology.
I started law school in 2015, and following completion of his GDL and LPC, worked for just under two years as a paralegal for Simmons & Simmons LLP’s ICT (Information, Communications & Technology) team.
Over the course of 3 years from 2015, I made more than 120 applications for vacation schemes and training contracts, attending around 10 interviews/assessment centres and finally securing a vacation scheme with Pinsent Masons in London, in early 2018. As a result, I understand the difficulty of handling law firm recruitment processes as an older candidate.
I successfully completed his vacation scheme within the Energy & Construction Projects team in Summer 2018, and was offered a training contract starting in September 2020. Following my time at Simmons, I went on to complete an 8-month stint as a paralegal at fintech ‘unicorn’ Revolut.
I am currently a trainee solicitor in the Property Disputes Resolution team at Pinsent Masons LLP in London.
