Profile:

My name is Ondrej, my pronouns are he/him, and I am an associate in the IP Group and a member of the Technology & IP Transactions and Cybersecurity & Data Privacy practices at Mayer Brown International LLP. I have a particular interest in artificial intelligence (AI) and the environmental, social and governance (ESG) implications of new technologies.

I grew up in Czechia. After finishing high school, I moved to Scotland with the help of a scholarship to study international relations at the University of St Andrews. Attending open days with Aspiring Solicitors and participating in the AS Commercial Awareness Competition in my last year at university helped me confirm that I want to become a solicitor at a global law firm. I completed a vacation scheme at Mayer Brown, and after studying the GDL and LPC, started my training contract at the firm. I qualified as solicitor in the technology team in 2020.

The legal profession has historically been slow to change. We all have a lot of work to do to ensure that our teams are truly inclusive and diverse so that we can perform at our best. Aspiring Solicitors have helped me a great deal and I hope I can help others by offering advice and answering questions, big or small, about the legal profession. Please do get in touch.
