My Law Firm

Profile:

I grew up in Aberdeen, Scotland and attended a comprehensive state-school with very low attainment and progression to higher education. Due to limited staffing and resources, much of my learning was self-motivated and required a significant amount of work both inside and outside of the classroom.

I was very indecisive about my career path, so I worked hard to attain grades in a range of subjects so that I could keep my options open. I decided to study Law at the suggestion of my English teacher and after enjoying an Open University course on the UK Legal System. None of my family members (or, indeed, people we knew) had attended university, and I found the prospect of applying quite daunting, particularly without any legal work experience to substantiate my interest in law.

Fortunately, I loved studying law at university. However, without any contacts in the legal profession, working at a global firm such as HSF Kramer was something I did not consider. Aspiring Solicitors equipped me with the resources and support to see both the opportunities available to me and my own potential. With exciting work, interesting clients and a collegiate culture which champions diversity, HSF Kramer felt like the right fit for me.

Diversity in the legal profession is fundamental. Diverse candidates are also resilient, motivated and resourceful candidates who bring a different perspective to solving problems and advising clients. Representation is also important, to encourage diverse candidates to break into traditionally non diverse spaces. As such, diversity is valuable at every level, from trainee all the way up to partner.
