Profile:
I am currently a Trainee Solicitor at DWF, having earned a First-class law degree from Baze University, Nigeria, and a Masters in Corporate Law from University of Leicester.
As a Black African woman with an international background, I initially found it challenging to understand what law firms look for in applications and had to build my legal experience later than many other candidates. As an international student, I experienced the complexities of adjusting to life abroad and navigating the legal profession without established connections in the country.
Completing my law degree in my home country meant that I also began my applications after graduation, during my master’s programme, which was later than most applicants.
During my second application cycle (when I secured two vacation schemes and my training contract at DWF), I benefited greatly from mentorship. This experience reinforced my belief that the right guidance, coupled with a diverse background, is invaluable. I am deeply committed to promoting accessibility within the legal profession, recognising firsthand the barriers faced by non- traditional talent. As someone who has benefited from mentorship, I am passionate about supporting aspiring lawyers, sharing my experiences, and helping to break down barriers to entry.
