Profile:

I attended a state school and became the first generation of my family to attend university. I studied English at the University of Exeter and began to consider a career in law during my second year. After getting involved with Aspiring Solicitors through the AS First scheme, I was lucky enough to gain work experience with both Network Rail and Barclays in their in-house legal teams during the summer before my final year at university. I also shadowed a barrister at Blackstone Chambers and attended a wide range of firm open days. In my final year, I was a mentee on the AS Aspire scheme, which helped me hugely with my vacation scheme applications. I completed assessment centres at a range of firms (including two Magic Circle firms) before securing vacation schemes at Simmons & Simmons, Addleshaw Goddard and Osborne Clarke. The schemes were all turned virtual due to coronavirus, however I converted two of them into training contract offers and I’m now an Associate at Addleshaw Goddard.

Diversity matters to me because without the help of the mentors and role-models introduced to me through Aspiring Solicitors, I never could have imagined this path for myself!
