Profile:

I grew up in Glasgow, part of a Punjabi Sikh family, and alongside my brother, we were the first to go to university. This step alone was big for us. I set off to Aberdeen University for my degree, where I completed my LLB and Diploma in Legal Practice.

A lot of what drew me to law came from home. My dad decided to start his own business when I was young. Watching him navigate through that world, and helping out myself, gave me a real taste of how businesses function.

This hands-on experience with business made me curious about the legal side of things. How do you resolve a dispute? How do you negotiate a contract? These questions pushed me towards a career in law, leading me to where I am today – a trainee at Addleshaw Goddard. Reflecting on my journey, I see how important it is to have different voices in the room, especially in law. My cultural background, my dad’s business experience, it all adds a different perspective to the table. Law isn’t just about knowing the rules; it’s about understanding people’s stories and where they come from.

That’s why diversity matters – it brings those stories into the room, making sure the legal profession reflects the real world.
