My Law Firm

Profile:

I am currently studying the GDL at BPP, having secured a training contract at Hogan Lovells during my final year at university. I completed my undergraduate degree at Warwick University, studying History.

When I started university, I was lost. It was only midway through my first year that one of my friends mentioned the possibility of a career in law to me. I started doing some research and sent off some ad-hoc Open Day applications, and despite being lucky enough to secure one opportunity, I knew I was woefully underprepared to make any further applications for vacation schemes or training contracts.

I was introduced to Aspiring Solicitors in my second year and entered the CAC 2017/18 with some of my friends. This experience highlighted the importance of commercial awareness, how to attain it and ultimately, how much more I needed to learn given that I didn’t make it past the second round!

I later secured a place on AS Aspire 2018/19, and reached the semi-final of the CAC 2018/19, which were invaluable experiences as I received a very strong grounding in the business and legal worlds to give me the best chance of success. I then went on to complete a vacation scheme at Travers Smith.

I am a big advocate for diversity in the legal profession, especially because on both of my vacation schemes there was a severe dearth of diversity, despite the numbers of talented and diverse individuals who apply. I highly commend Aspiring Solicitors for their work, without which, it would be unlikely I would be where I am now.

Therefore, I am extremely looking forward to giving back and helping those wanting to pursue a legal career and in so doing, continue Aspiring Solicitors’ excellent work and make the legal profession as diverse as possible.
