Profile:
In my final year of university, I didn’t know what I wanted to do afterwards. I always thought I’d follow my English degree with something involving journalism, but I never really settled on anything. By chance, I started to look into getting work experience in a law firm through a vacation scheme as something my friends at the time were applying for – it seemed like a good way to try out a new career that I otherwise wouldn’t have had any experience of. After an enjoyable couple of vacation schemes (and a lot of rejections) I realised that I enjoyed problem solving in the way a legal career offers. After being offered a TC at AOS, I enjoyed some legal journalism writing working at Legal Cheek whilst studying, before starting my training contract in September 2025. I think diversity has been a really important part of my professional and personal life – from being able to gain experiences I wouldn’t otherwise have at university, to being exposed to career paths and life choices I never really imagined when I was younger. I think it’s really important that we encourage and make spaces for people in these roles and institutions who otherwise wouldn’t experience them and what they might offer, not only because its right that a diverse number of people get this exposure, but also because that’s what continues to make these places better.
