Profile:

I am a Solicitor at West Midlands Police, having trained at international law firm Trowers & Hamlins and qualifying at global law firm DLA Piper – both in the Birmingham offices. I studied law at the University of Birmingham and the LPC MSc at the University of Law. I qualified into Real Estate and in my current role, I deal with property and commercial matters. I am the current Co-Chair of the Birmingham Solicitors’ Group – a networking group and platform for junior legal professionals in the Birmingham and West Midlands region. I am also a nationally elected Council Member of The Law Society where I represent junior lawyers 0-6 years PQE.

I think people should never count themselves out of a role due to their background or beliefs. It can be very easy to downplay your abilities and strengths because you think you don’t fit a particular mould or type. I think people should be proud of their heritage and culture, diversity should be celebrated and welcomed across all professions. My mantra is to work hard and remain positive.

I was first introduced to Aspiring Solicitors at university, where I joined the student committee which helped raised awareness of diversity and equality in the legal profession. Having heard a number of inspirational stories from legal professionals from all backgrounds, it inspired me to push forward in my career and help as many people as I can in overcoming those barriers. I have been fortunate in my career and personal life to have the right people and role models around me at the right times – I hope I can help the next generation in pursuing their career goals.

I am more than happy to help answer any questions regarding the journey towards a career in law.
