Profile:
I began my legal journey as a part-time paralegal in Central London, balancing legal work and studies to pave my way to becoming a solicitor. This job was crucial for my education, as I had no family, friends, or connections to rely on financially. After graduating with a First-Class degree in law, I started working full-time, while undertaking the required professional course part-time (after work and/or during my weekends). Training in West End London alongside skilled lawyers, I realised the power of diverse approaches in achieving success: there is no ‘one-way’ approach. Since qualifying in 2017, I’ve navigated a broad spectrum of corporate and commercial matters, from assisting start-ups to guiding international clients through complex transactions, sometimes enduring sleepless nights to close critical deals.
Working alongside talented legal minds has been enriching, yet disheartening instances when discrimination occurs, remind me of the imperative focus on meritocracy over nepotism in the legal sector. True and effective collaboration succeeds on inclusivity driven by diversity, embracing varied perspectives based on language, accent, gender, religion, and more. My focus has been and will continue to remain on continuing to foster a legal environment where great minds meet freely to innovate and achieve collective goals irrespective of their background. It is something that I try hard to not lose sight of.
