I am a mixed (Irish White and Indigenous Hispanic) woman with ADHD and physical mobility impairments.
I completed AS Aspire, AS HeadStart (General Session and Firm-Specific Session) and the Commercial Awareness Competition 2024.
The support of my AS coaches has been invaluable, enabling me to build my confidence and realise that my neurodivergence is not a limitation. Aspire helped me improve my applications dramatically, and May empowered me to disclose and enforce my reasonable adjustments – something that once truly intimidated me. These lessons also pushed me to pick a firm that was right for me.
I will never forget how my AS coach calmed me down during the CAC semi-finals, as I panicked that my stimming was too evident. She was so understanding and encouraging. The AS coaches are brilliant individuals, but their empathy and genuine desire to make a change is what sets them apart.
The CAC developed my commercial understanding and my Assessment Centre skills. It was an invaluable experience to work alongside other AS members – some of which I have cultivated amazing friendships and we have supported each other through the application process.
This organisation has truly changed my life and I encourage everyone who qualifies for their support to apply.
