Profile:

I competed the IB programme outside the UK, then moved to London to complete a law degree at Brunel University London. When I first started university I found that I had very little exposure to the work that city lawyers do. Particularly, it was difficult to compete with others in the beginning for opportunities at university because I hadn’t done a law A-level or any work experience in the city.

This quickly changed when I became a Aspiring Solicitors member at the start of university in 2017. I was a candidate of the AS First programme which successfully gave me a mental checklist of skills I could be building like commercial awareness and public speaking. By my second of university I had attended number AS open days and had the opportunity to be a legal intern at Royal Dutch Shell. One of the most influential programmes to my success thus far, can be attributed to being a candidate of the Aspire Programme. I would recommend this to any AS member! I had one on one mentoring sessions during the application season and fortnightly calls with a team of employment lawyers at Barclays Bank.

Trying to balance applications, academia and a part-time job was not easy but the AS community and resources definitely were fundamental. Being apart of a community that cherishes diversity is so pivotal to me because not only did it boost my confidence in interviews and networking, it stimulated thoughts of self-awareness and growth.
