Profile:
I completed the IB programme outside of the UK before permanently moving back to London to study law at Brunel University London. I had very little exposure to what lawyers actually did (outside of the TV shows and media) which meant that I couldn’t really understand how motivated I was to pursue to a career in law or gear myself up for the skills I would need to be successful in the career.
One of the key turning points in that journey of discovery was joining Aspiring Solicitors in 2017, within the first couple of weeks of university. Luckily, the AS First Programme was all that I needed to kick start something really brilliant in my career. That programme opened my eyes to what it really meant to be ‘commercially aware’ or a ‘good public speaker’. By my second year, I had littered my CV with a number of AS law firm open days and secured an internship with Shell through AS, which was amazing!
I also joined the Aspire Programme, which allowed me to have one-to-one mentoring sessions during application season and I can’t recommend that type of guidance enough, which I why I am returning the favour by being a mentor on a more informal level. As a qualified solicitor now, even just discussing thoughts and attitudes with someone in the field can make such an influence on the decisions you make. Please do get in touch to talk all things city and law.
