Profile:
I am currently a Trainee Solicitor at Kennedys’ Manchester office, where I have so far undertaken seats in Professional Liability and Property, Energy and Construction. Prior to this, I studied Law with Politics at the University of Manchester and then spent 10 months working as a paralegal in the Catastrophic Injury team at Clyde & Co.
As a British Muslim woman of Libyan heritage who wears the hijab, I feel strongly about promoting diversity and inclusion within the legal profession. My parents immigrated to the UK in the 1990s, and their work ethic and resilience have been a huge influence on me. I had no connections in law growing up, so I know how daunting it can feel to break into the profession when it feels like so many people already have a foot in the door!
I believe a career in law is achievable for anyone with commitment and drive, regardless of faith or background. Yes, entering spaces where people don’t look like you can be daunting, but this should never be a barrier. I hope to challenge the perception that the legal profession is out of reach and to show that diversity makes it stronger.
