Profile:

I career-changed into law after the age of 40, following a prior and somewhat turbulent career in commercial and business strategy across the technology sector. I completed my GDL and LPC at BPP University (2015-2017), but because I was such an atypical candidate at the time, I really struggled to secure a training contract (TC). Indeed, I sent around 120 applications over 3 years, and reached 8-10 assessment centres – all but one of which I failed.

As a result, upon leaving law school I worked full-time as a paralegal (first at Simmons & Simmons and then at fintech challenger bank Revolut). This work experience really helped build my confidence in doing legal work and my ability, and I eventually obtained a place on Pinsent Masons’ Vac Scheme (at the second attempt), starting my TC in September 2020.

After a really enjoyable and very successful TC, I qualified into the TMT team at Pinsent Masons where I had two and a half great years as an Associate, including 16 months on secondment to the BBC’s Commercial & Technology Legal team working with some of the world’s biggest companies. I moved to Clyde & Co in July 2025 to work in their Technology, Data & Outsourcing practice in London

Having had such a struggle to reach where I am, I understand and appreciate how difficult and challenging the TC application process is, and have been determined, ever since, to do all I can to help others succeed with it. And whilst diversity is much more appreciated, and sometimes even sought, by some law firms, it is still a very uneven playing field. As a result, I am proud to work with Aspiring Solicitors, and do whatever I can to help broaden diversity in this profession.
