Profile:

I graduated from a non-Russel Group university and attended my local comprehensive. I have just finished the fast-track LPC and I begin my training contract with Jones Day in September.

Diversity in law is crucial because the industry should reflect reality and welcoming people from all walks of life is important for more than just the optics. Clients want diverse representation from its panel because they realise diversity in all forms brings innovative and fresh ways of thinking. I am passionate that where you are from and your background is your biggest asset. It is something to be proud of and it will inform you for the rest of your life. The ability to articulate and leverage the challenges you’ve faced is important to succeeding in the application process (and in life!). As the first in my family to attend university and coming from a low socio-economic household, a career in law seemed unobtainable. Without diversity initiatives I wouldn’t have believed it was possible. I would love to speak with any aspiring lawyers who have had similar feelings about entering the profession.
