Profile:
I am a trainee solicitor at A&O Shearman. I studied Experimental Psychology at the University of Oxford and graduated in 2022. During my degree, I realised I was less drawn to academic research and more energised by the fast-paced, collaborative nature of corporate work.
From a young age, I volunteered at a small women’s advisory bureau, which exposed me to the real-world impact of legal support and solidified my interest in pursuing law. I drew on those experiences—advocacy and problem-solving—when applying for a summer vacation scheme, which led to a training contract offer from the legacy firm, Allen & Overy.
My background in psychology has proved invaluable: it sharpened my analytical thinking, evidence-based decision-making, and ability to understand client priorities.
Diverse teams bring a diversity of thought. Different perspectives challenge assumptions, improve judgment, and produce better solutions for clients and I hope that more industries are encouraged to celebrate diversity.
