Profile:

I studied Law at the University of Nottingham and did a vacation scheme at Browne Jacobson through which I received an offer to join as a trainee solicitor. I have undertaken my LPC at The University of Law’s campus in Nottingham.

I grew up in a deprived area and attended a school that had a high-percentage of students that benefitted from the  ‘Free School Meals’ programme.  I consider it a blessing to have grown up and developed as a person in the area that I did and I, like many others, am proud of the path I have been on to get to where I am today as opposed to seeing it as an exceptional circumstance on applications.

It is however difficult to escape the realities of the fewer opportunities that are given to those that do not attend the best schools in the country or grow up in a less stable environment. I was always internally motivated to want to push myself to become a lawyer and this required greater self-motivation as opposed to opportunities presented on a platter.

There has been some progress to help increase representation of people from different backgrounds but I personally feel that more still needs to be done to help those same people feel included and welcomed once they are at the table. If any of this resonates and you would like to get in contact then please feel comfortable to do so.
