My diversity networks

Profile:

I am a Restructuring and Insolvency Solicitor at Gateley Plc. My path to securing a training contract was relatively conventional; I studied a law degree and completed a vacation scheme at Gateley Plc which fortunately led to a training contract offer shortly after graduating. Although it all worked out in the end, I faced plenty of rejections and setbacks along the way which is why I would like to support others going through this difficult process. Spending weeks on an application just for it to get rejected can be extremely disheartening and I understand how easy it is to doubt yourself and feel as though a legal career is out of reach. Attending Aspiring Solicitors events gave me the confidence to believe I was good enough to get a training contract and showed me that you do not need to fit a certain stereotype to succeed as a lawyer. It taught me that by being yourself, working hard and persevering, a career in law is not unattainable no matter what your background is.

Recently going through the tough application process, I understand how valuable it is to have someone there to offer a helping hand along the way. I look forward to working with other aspiring solicitors and am available to offer advice on applications and assessment day/interview preparation. I am also more than happy to discuss my current role with anyone considering specialising in Restructuring and Insolvency.
