Profile:
I attended a state school in West Yorkshire and I am the first in my family to go to University and pursue a career in Law. Having graduated from the University of Chester, I continued studying and obtained a MSc in Business Law and Management alongside my LPC (Distinction). I undertook my period of recognized training in-house at Network Rail Infrastructure Limited and have since held roles as a corporate associate at Addleshaw Goddard and now Private Equity at Skadden.
I am passionate about increasing diversity in the legal sector and motivating others that have experienced difficulties when trying to enter the profession. If I was to provide any advice to aspiring solicitors it would be to use the rejections you receive from firms as motivation and do not be afraid to seek out opportunities. I received countless unsuccessful emails, however my persistence enabled me to be in the fortunate position of receiving four training contract offers and now a role at an elite US firm. Skadden has a number of affinity groups and initiatives designed to promote diversity and foster inclusion.
I hope that sharing my experiences may encourage those who feel that they are at a disadvantage to continue to pursue a career in law. I would be delighted to assist anyone with any queries they may have.
