Trainee Solicitor | Mayer Brown
- State school educated
- First generation to attend University
- First generation lawyer
I graduated with a Law degree from Cardiff University in July 2017. I will complete my LPC at BPP Law School in September 2017 and following a successful summer vacation scheme, I will commence my training contract with Mayer Brown in September 2019.
Since beginning my A-levels I have been involved with various diversity initiatives to help provide me with access to the legal profession. This included my participation in Pathways to Law, Pathways Plus and the Discuss programme with Rare Recruitment. During university, I became a student ambassador for Aspiring Solicitors. Throughout this role, I worked towards the ultimate aim of increasing diversity in the legal profession through raising awareness of the opportunities available to students from underrepresented groups.
Personally, Aspiring Solicitors has assisted me throughout all stages of the application process for vacation schemes. I had weekly calls with the Aspiring Solicitors team to advise me on how to choose the firms I would apply to and most importantly, proofread my many drafts of application forms. I also benefited from mock interviews with Gemma which I am extremely grateful for. During this time, I also participated in the Commercial Awareness Competition and reached the semi-finals.
I believe this shows that the Aspiring Solicitors team are there to support you from the very beginning until the very end. I cannot thank the team enough for their continuing support and patience. I am now delighted to give back to Aspiring Solicitors and help all those in their journey to obtaining a training contract.
