Profile:
I am currently a trainee solicitor at BCLP, undertaking my second seat in the firm’s Abu Dhabi office. Raised in a single-parent household, I am proud to be a first-generation university graduate pursuing a career in law. With no prior connections in the legal profession, I focused on steadily building my experience and strengthening my CV alongside my academic studies.
My journey into the legal field has been both challenging and deeply rewarding. I have volunteered in prisons and courts and gained valuable paralegal experience. Prior to securing my training contract, I worked as a paralegal at BCLP. I chose to continue my legal career at BCLP because of its genuine culture of inclusion, where people from all backgrounds can bring their full selves to work.
The importance of Diversity is something I understand on a personal level. Diversity is not just important but essential. An inclusive workforce brings broader perspectives, fosters innovation and integrates individuals with one another. Like many, I have also experienced many of the hurdles and challenges facing aspiring solicitors – from a lack of guidance to navigating an unfamiliar recruitment process. I am passionate about improving access to the legal industry, particularly for those from non traditional and underrepresented communities. For me, it’s about shaping a profession that is truly open, inclusive, and accessible – where everyone has an opportunity to succeed and thrive.
I am happy to provide any practical guidance, tips or knowledge I have gained from other
professionals or simply answer any questions on what life is like as a trainee.
