What is Aspire?

Aspire is Aspiring Solicitors’ flagship coaching programme, designed for selected AS members to gain a competitive edge in securing vacation schemes and training contracts.

Designed by former lawyers, graduate recruiters and career coaches from leading law firms, Aspire provides expert coaching, insider knowledge, and practical skills to strengthen your applications and help you succeed at every stage of the application process.

Expert coaching and application support

  • Bespoke employability workshops from AS coaches covering law firms’ end-to-end application processes, from CVs and cover letters to interviews and assessment centres
  • Personalised guidance to strengthen your applications 
  • 1-to-1 mock interviews for those progressing to assessment centres

Mentoring opportunities

  • Firm-specific mentoring schemes, including the Black Aspiring Solicitors Scheme (BASS), Ethnic Minority, Social Mobility, STEM and Disability schemes
  • Corporate mentoring with in-house and private practice mentors at leading law firms and in-house legal teams (often FTSE 100 companies)

Who can apply?

Anyone in their first year of a Law degree or first/second year of a non-Law degree in 2026/2027 is not eligible. To apply for this opportunity, you must be a:

  • second year Law or final year Law undergraduate;
  • final year non-Law undergraduate;
  • graduate of any degree;
  • postgraduate student (including GDL/LPC/LLM or other postgraduate degrees);
  • career changer; or
  • someone who has completed a degree and is working.

Should you meet the above eligibility, you must also:

  • be an Aspiring Solicitors member (from at least one of our underrepresented groups);
  • have received ABB at A Level (or the international equivalent) (please note we genuinely take into account mitigating circumstances and usually enjoy 30-50% NRG participants);
  • have received or be on target for at least a 2.1 degree classification (please note we take into account mitigating circumstances);
  • be eligible to apply for a vacation scheme in the 2026/27 academic year;
  • be resident in the UK or Ireland in the academic year 2026/2027;
  • have a strong interest in pursuing a legal career in the UK or Ireland;
  • not have participated in Aspire previously; and
  • not have accepted a training contract with any law firm or legal team.

What is the application process?

  • Complete the form fully and accurately, using the word count provided at each stage and providing your current or predicted grades.
  • Whilst the use of AI isn’t forbidden we strongly encourage you to limit the use of AI in applications so that answers reflect your own personal motivations and experiences, so we can help you achieve your career aspirations.
