My Law Firm

Profile:

My dad is a carpenter and my mum was an airhostess. I went to state school up until GCSE and was fortunate to attend a private sixth form after being awarded a double scholarship. I studied a Music undergraduate at King’s College London. My brother ended up at King’s College London two years later. Both prior to and alongside my degree I trained in classical singing with teachers from The Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama and The Royal Academy of Music.

Initially I did not believe that it was possible to enter the profession with a background like mine. I began researching in my second year of undergraduate but talked myself out of applying. During my final year I applied for charity grants and scholarships to self-fund the GDL. I was fortunate to be awarded a Dean of the Law School Scholarship from BPP Law School and a generous charity grant to fund most of my tuition. During the GDL, I worked in Greggs part-time. Up until this point, I had little formal legal work experience. During the GDL, I applied to three firms. I was daunted as this was the first time experiencing a professional environment. I attended a Vacation Scheme at Clifford Chance in July 2019 and subsequently trained at Clifford Chance, qualifying in February 2023. I am now an M&A/Private Equity Associate at Kirkland & Ellis.

I learnt that the above qualities in addition to overcoming many hurdles helped me to stand out during the recruitment process. I am grateful to a significant number of people who supported me during the full recruitment process, in particular Aspiring Solicitors, LawCareers.Net and staff and friends from King’s College London.

Please do get in touch with any queries and I will try my best to help.
