Profile:

My journey into law began at school, however, at that stage, I was more drawn to a career in journalism! When applying for university courses, I was advised that a degree focused on writing, combined with a language, would provide broader opportunities in journalism, which led me to apply for Law with Spanish at the University of Strathclyde. It wasn’t until my final year at university that I began to reconsider my career choices and became interested in exploring what a career in law might look like for me. By then, many of my peers had already secured placements, traineeships and places on the Diploma, so I needed to find another way to begin my journey into the legal profession.

I started applying for paralegal positions with firms in Glasgow and was fortunate to be offered a Real Estate paralegal role with the AG Glasgow team. After this experience, I realised a career in law was definitely the career choice for me and I decided to apply for a traineeship with AG. After a few more years, during which I worked as an Assistant Team Leader and completed trainee seats in Real Estate, Commercial, Commercial Disputes, and Restructuring, I made my way back to Real Estate as an Associate!

Diversity is extremely important, as it encourages a broader range of perspectives, experiences, and ideas, which in turn drives innovation and enhances decision-making. Not only this, but an inclusive environment enables individuals to contribute fully and feel comfortable bringing their authentic selves to work. Although the profession has become significantly more inclusive in recent years, there is still a lot of work to be done. Nevertheless, it is encouraging to see progress being made in the right direction.
