My diversity networks

Profile:

I am a senior equity partner at leading Lincoln’s Inn firm, Edwin Coe LLP. I specialise in real estate disputes and international trusts litigation. I have been recommended in The Legal 500 directory for a number of years.

I qualified in 2000 at another Lincoln’s Inn firm, Payne Hicks Beach, and became partner at the specialist property firm Bishop & Sewell in 2012, before moving to Edwin Coe LLP in 2014 as a lateral partner hire. I joined to strengthen and develop the firm’s specialist Property and Trusts litigation team which has gone from strength to strength over this time and is amongst the fastest growing teams in the firm. As one of the firm’s senior equity partners, I am responsible for overseeing the development and support of our associates at all levels and I also sit on our trainee recruitment partner panel.

I feel blessed that I have been able to achieve success at such a high level in my legal career and I have always championed helping and “giving back” to the community and our profession. I am a proud trustee of The Solicitors Charity and a trustee and governor of a co-educational school based in London. I am also a previous Chair of the Society of Asian Lawyers where I fought hard for diversity and equality.

My international background has given me a really useful insight in terms of acting for a wide range of clients from across the globe and all with different backgrounds, cultures and religions. I am therefore able to relate well with clients and colleagues generally on varying cultural levels which helps put them at ease, especially when dealing with the stress of complex and costly litigation. It is important that we support a truly diverse and open profession and have regard to applicants’ specific needs and unique experiences which could well differ from the “norm” so as to give everyone the same opportunity of attaining success and then becoming the next generation role models. I firmly believe that workplaces are better places to work and achieve greater business success where there is genuine diversity and transparency at all different levels involving colleagues from varying backgrounds and experiences who can learn from and support each other.

I look forward to sharing my own journey and hopefully helping others achieve the highest possible success along the way.
