I recently accepted a training contract offer (commencing in 2027) with Hogan Lovells. I am from Lancashire and studied English Law at the University of Dundee, graduating in 2024. I am currently working as a paralegal in Virgin’s intellectual property team in London.

I only truly decided I wanted to work as a commercial solicitor in my second year of university, leaving me with some room to catch up to others in an admittedly competitive field. However, through committing myself to gaining experience, attending events, and regularly writing about commercial issues, I had the opportunity to complete a vacation scheme.

As someone from a diverse (mixed-race) background, I’ve been fortunate enough to experience firsthand the benefits of diversity. Everyone is different and therefore has something unique to offer to every opportunity they are involved in.

I have been part of multiple diversity schemes, notably including the Aspiring Solicitors Hogan Lovells Non-Russell Group Mentoring Scheme in 2024. Through attending workshops, networking opportunities, and having one-on-one sessions with trainees, I benefitted hugely from the scheme and could see that law firms similarly value diversity in the workplace.
