Profile:
I am a Future Trainee Associate at Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP. I studied History at the University of Warwick, a non-law degree, before pursuing a career in law.
During university, I completed a mentoring scheme with FARFETCH, hoping to carve out a career path into the fashion industry. I learnt a lot about the business of fashion but after meeting with the Senior Legal Counsel, I was inspired to explore the legal side of the industry instead. He directed me to Aspiring Solicitors, whose support was invaluable during my application process.
In my final year, I participated in the Weil Black Mentoring Scheme, where a mentor helped me gain valuable insights into corporate law and finance. I realised how entrepreneurial law could be, and how important lawyers are in the business ecosystem. I then completed a successful vacation scheme at Weil, working in the banking team, which led to my training contract offer.
Having experienced firsthand the challenges of entering law as someone from an underrepresented background, I am passionate about supporting others on this path. I am happy to offer advice and share my experience with anyone interested in pursuing a career in law.
