Profile:

I am currently a Future Trainee Solicitor at Hogan Lovells, after recently graduating from King’s College London with a Law LLB degree in 2017. I have completed various vacation schemes with leading commercial law firms outside of the UK, and an internship with Barclays’ Legal Team in London. Prior to university, I completed my A-Levels in Singapore and served two years in military service.

As an international student and first generation lawyer, I had no prior exposure to the legal market in London. However, I was determined to pursue a career as an international commercial solicitor in London. My career ambitions were made possible through the assistance of various organisations, and Aspiring Solicitors has played an indispensable role in helping me attain training contract offers.

I have been immensely fortunate for the access to opportunities and guidance that Aspiring Solicitors has provided me with. These included mock interviews and Springboard workshops that greatly assisted me with my applications. Additionally, through competing in the AS Commercial Awareness Competition 2016/17 and progressing to the Grand Final, I significantly strengthened my commercial awareness. The ability to analyse the impact of global events on diversified industries and law firms became extremely valuable in subsequent assessment centres and networking opportunities. More importantly, these opportunities helped reaffirm my abilities and gave me the confidence to achieve my career ambitions.

Increasing diversity and access to opportunities are causes that I hold close to my heart, by extension of my background. Through participating in multiple Aspiring Solicitors events and opportunities, I was encouraged by the steps taken to promote diversity and inclusion within the legal profession.
