My Law Firm

Profile:

I am a trainee solicitor at Squire Patton Boggs. I graduated from studying Law at the University of Leeds with First Class Honours in July 2016 and completed the Fast Track LPC at BPP Law School in March 2017. Prior to starting my training contract, I broadened my international outlook through working at our SPB Australian offices (Perth and Sydney). I also gained valuable commercial experience through supporting in-house legal teams at two of our clients, The Co-Operative Bank (at their HQ in Manchester) for four months and Clear Channel (at their HQ in London) for 13 months.

I found the pervasive nature of the law fascinating and knew I was interested in a legal career, but I attended a low performing state school and as a result we did not have much career advice – I was once told that a legal career would be out of reach for me. When I studied Law at University, I always heard of others gaining legal mentoring through their connections and it made me feel quite disheartened, because I did not have a similar network and felt it was unfair. Nevertheless, I continued to work hard and looked for other opportunities to compete. Through joining and attending AS events such as “turn your vacation scheme into a training contract” I realised what firms were looking for and what sort of firm I wanted to train at.

I am very grateful to AS for putting these on these events, as they even out the playing field and definitely helped me to secure my training contract. As an AS Professional Ambassador, I hope that I can help others and happy to answer any queries you may have.
