My Law Firm

Profile:

Hi everyone, I’m Sam and I am just about to finish the GDL at BPP university with a training contract at Kennedys. I was always planning to do law at university, however I had my mind set on attending King’s so when I missed my grades for law I decided to accept their offer to study History instead. Looking back now, I am so glad I did as it gave me three years to really get into the learning style of university, with an emphasis on self-study that developed my resilience and determination, as well as my writing skills.

As a first generation university student despite being the youngest of four children, it was quite hard at the start knowing where to begin when researching for a career in law. However, I have always focused on networking and trying to gain as much work experience as possible, both in the legal and business world, which has helped to develop my commercial awareness. Networking has been one of the most important things for me as it has allowed me to build relationships with people who were willing to help me and support me throughout my legal journey.

As someone who did not know anyone either studying law or with a career in law, the work Aspiring Solicitors does has been invaluable. It gave me an opportunity to reach out to someone, either through the Professional Ambassadors Directory or at an event, who I would have otherwise not been able to come into contact with. I look forward to helping as many of you as I can, to try and give back after all of the inspiration and support I have received from people that were willing to help me when I was in the same situation as you, so please do not hesitate to contact me.
