Profile:
As a non-law student, I studied English and Comparative Literary Studies at University of Warwick, before completing the GDL at the University of Law and the LPC at BPP University. Having secured my training contract at BDB Pitmans, I had planned to take a year out to travel before beginning my training, but, the pandemic hit, and I joined BDB Pitmans a year early as a Directories Researcher. I worked for six months in this role, before going on to support the Litigation Department in their work as Solicitors to the Fishmongers’ Hall Inquests and then I spent a couple of months as a Researcher in the Knowledge Management Team. During my training contract, I completed seats in Private Real Estate, Family, Litigation and PIP (Planning, Infrastructure, and Public Law). I qualified into the Family Team at BDB Pitmans in September 2023.
In my researcher roles, I was tasked with analysing the firm’s diversity statistics and considering how the firm operates in the market. As a trainee and NQ solicitor, I was Treasurer for SHINE, the firm’s race, ethnicity and culture group, Diversity must be a key focus of any law firm hoping to develop or even maintain its position as new recruits will seek a workplace in which they will be valued and supported, whilst pre-existing employees will want to see their firm evolve to be ever more inclusive. Diversity brings a wider range of opinions and experiences together to enable progress in the best possible way.
