My diversity networks

Profile:

I graduated from the University of Warwick with a History degree in 2016. I am currently a trainee solicitor for Linklaters.

As the first generation in my family to attend university and choosing not to study law, I had less information about the different practices of law and law firms. It was through Aspiring Solicitors that I was able to attend networking events with various firms and events such as CityLawLive allowing me to improve my commercial awareness. They also provided an opportunity to compare different firms and learn what type of firm I wanted to work for.

Alongside my university careers service, it was the AS ‘application advice’ events that helped me learn how to write a strong application and I would thoroughly recommend attending.

Once I was offered an interview with Linklaters, the advice information AS ambassadors gave me was invaluable and I do not think I would have been offered a vacation scheme without them. Additionally, being on the AS “Ones to Watch” list when applying for schemes provided for an excellent talking point in interviews. AS then gave me further advice throughout my vacation scheme, aiding me to secure my training contract. I am incredibly grateful for all the support AS provided.

I would be happy to answer any questions about applications, vacation schemes and Linklaters.
