My diversity networks

Profile:

I completed my training contract at the GLD in 2003-2005 and have remained here ever since. During the last 13 years, in line with the GLD ethos, I have moved between private and public law teams. I am now doing private law litigation (personal injury, false imprisonment and inquests) for the prison service. I have the privilege of working part time and flexibly which allows me to combine the best of the worlds of law and being a mum. I have recently been a buddy for the BPP Law School mentoring project and I really enjoyed the experience of buddying someone who was finding it hard to gain insight into the legal profession and have the opportunity to network with trainees and lawyers.

I can offer the following assistance to aspiring solicitors: I can liaise with the trainee recruitment team and recently recruited GLD trainees to find out what skills, competencies and experience they are looking for in people’s applications and in interviews and pass on that information. I can provide information on the range of non-lawyer roles in the GLD which are an alternative route to working in law.  I can offer a perspective on how many applications current trainees are making before they are successful. I am involved in promoting the GLD’s policy and practice on flexible working. I am happy to be contacted with any queries you think I could help with.
