BPP university alumni

Profile:

I have obtained careers advice from my university careers officer, partners at law firms, and Aspiring Solicitors, which I am now keen to pass on to you!

Obtaining A*A*A in my A levels earned me a place at the University of Warwick, where I am now a finalist in law. However, comparing myself to students who had been building their network and professional skills in anticipation for the application process for years I found myself lagging behind in the career department. Attending the HeadStart into Training Contracts workshop by Aspiring Solicitors privileged me with brutally honest advice about the harsh reality of the application process. Law firm’s screening processes are unforgiving and those who know what recruiters are looking for are naturally advantaged at this stage. My aim is to bridge this gap in awareness for those have not been geared up to a career in law from early-on.

Having recently attended the AS Social Mobility Event 2018 I was sincerely inspired by the success stories of those who, in spite of adversity, had overcome the innately competitive process of acquiring a training contract. Unfortunately, I have also heard from many who have been left disheartened by the legal sector’s reluctance to consider people with diverse life experiences. I am here to encourage you with the fact that increasingly firms value your skills gained from full-time work or as a carer etc. I am here to help you convey these valuable life experiences to highlight your soft skills in applications and interviews.

As a law mentor and a language tutor I am well-equipped for advising anyone, regardless of their circumstances or what stage they are at. For advice, from someone who has been through the process, on applications, work experience, attending events/networking please do not hesitate to contact me.
