My diversity networks

Profile:

My name is Faye Blair and I am a Paralegal in the Health Litigation team at Hill Dickinson, dealing with claims bought against NHS Trusts. I joined Hill Dickinson in February 2021 as a Legal Administration Assistant, before being promoted to Paralegal. I am currently on part-time secondment working directly with the client for Mersey Care NHS Trust.

I completed my undergraduate degree in law at the University of Liverpool, where I continued to study my Legal Practice Course (LPC). Getting top grades was a big worry for me coming from a school who were in special measures and I didn’t get the grades to get into my top university but was offered a place at my next choice. Before reaching university, I had no legal connections and despite it being a dream, I was unsure on how to pursue a career in law. Without any real experience of working in an office, the Aspiring Solicitors website helped me navigate a career in law. Having made what seemed like endless applications I was successful in obtaining my first job at a law firm.

For me, diversity is important as it allows individuals with different experiences and backgrounds to work together. Working within the legal sector has emphasised to me the benefits of working in a diverse team and I am hugely passionate about promoting diversity and inclusion in the legal industry.

I can offer an insight into what it is like to work at Hill Dickinson and share my day-to-day responsibilities as both a Legal Assistant and Paralegal. I would be eager to talk to those with a specific interest in healthcare law and share my experiences of working on an NHS Resolution panel firm and on secondment to an NHS Trust.
