My diversity networks

Profile:

Having completed my LPC in September 2015, I have now started my training contract with Gowling WLG.

Originally from Ireland, I graduated from Queen’s University Belfast in 2012 with a 2.1 in Law. I have also completed a Masters in International Human Rights Law at the National University of Ireland, Galway. With a keen interest in Human Rights and Public Law, I then participated in a four month internship at the International Bar Association in London. This was my first experience of working in an in-house legal team with people who had trained at top commercial firms.

I returned home to Belfast and worked as a Paralegal in a high street firm for six months before self-funding my LPC at Kaplan Law School. It was during my time at Law School that I developed an interest in commercial law and began applying for Vacation Schemes and Training contracts. I secured my training contract in July following a vacation scheme.

I would be happy to share my advice and experiences with anyone, particularly international students or those not educated in England. I can also share experiences to those self-funding the LPC or whose work experience was not focused on commercial law originally.

The support and advice I have received from Aspiring Solicitors has been invaluable and I look forward to giving the same support as a Professional Ambassador to anyone that needs it. I believe diversity in the legal profession is extremely important and want to enable those who wish to succeed regardless of their background.

Please do not hesitate to get in touch!
