BPP university alumni

Profile:

I was educated through the state-system in Stevenage, followed by History and Classics at Durham University, where I became involved with Aspiring Solicitors in my first year. Being from a completely non-law background (both in my family and in my degree) Aspiring Solicitors acted as a crucial guide during this period in understanding how I needed to develop professionally, in order to pursue a career as a solicitor.

From the beginning of my GCSE’s onwards into university, I have also been required to balance my studies with part-time and, often full-time, work. This juggling act of academics and employment has proved particularly difficult at moments, but I would be very happy to discuss how best to handle such situations with anyone in a similar position.

Through plenty of effort and AS’ support throughout the process, I took on work experience at a number of London firms, before securing a training contract at Simmons & Simmons. I am now beginning my GDL then LPC in London, with the support of the firm, and would, likewise, be open to discussing the opportunities and difficulties of transitioning into City Law from a non-law background.

I have been lucky in receiving some exceptional advice from very talented people at different moments in my life. Being an AS Professional Ambassador will, hopefully, allow me to help others understand and achieve their potential in the same way.
