My diversity networks

Profile:

My name is Aimee, and I currently study Law at the University of Cambridge. My career in law so far has included completing work experience, attending open days, law fairs and vacation schemes.

I undertook some work experience, before attending university, at high street firms. I spent a week shadowing various solicitors, in a firm in Macclesfield, who practiced Family Law, Employment Law and Wills & Probate.

Then last year I spent two weeks at Birchall Blackburn Law, in Preston, in the Wills & Probate department. I was able to draft a will, attend client meetings, call up other professionals, and much more.

This year I was lucky enough to secure three vacation schemes, in Manchester, at Shoosmiths, DLA Piper and Clyde & Co. At Shoosmiths I sat in the Real Estate team, and was able to draft a Lease, complete Title Reports and Lease Summaries.

At DLA Piper I spent a week in the Employment team; I drafted a settlement agreement, attended an Employment Tribunal, and undertook a focused file review. I then spent a week in the Litigation & Regulatory team; I undertook research, helped create bundles for Court, and draft Executive Summaries to attach to advice for clients.

Finally, at Clyde & Co I spent two weeks in the Professional & Financial Disputes team undertaking many file reviews, and then making chronologically orders, or diagrams summarising the facts, and undertaking research.

From completing my DLA Piper vacation scheme I was offered a 2019 training contract, and I cannot wait to start. If you have any questions about DLA Piper, or even about Shoosmiths or Clyde & Co’s vacation schemes or application process, do not hesitate to contact me.
