“By being a member of Aspiring Solicitors I was able to deepen my understanding of the legal profession and commercial law. Before I started my applications, I had a vague idea of the qualities a commercial solicitor might possess (based largely on stereotypes and TV shows) and the type of work and work pressures I would need to withstand to be successful in the industry. A lot of these ideas made me feel like I had to change myself to get a training contract. However, meeting other aspiring solicitors and talking with current associates at events helped me immeasurably to properly understand the skills and attributes I had that would stand me in good stead in the industry. I gained confidence that my background would not hold me back and could be an advantage.
