My Law Firm

Profile:

I have recently joined Akin in the corporate team with a specific focus on transactions and project development in the energy sector. I began my career at Herbert Smith Freehills where I trained and qualified into the corporate energy team and was an associate in the team for 3 and a half years before moving to Akin seeking out a broader range of work and a new challenge. I studied history at Durham University and went on to do the conversion course (GDL) at BPP University in London followed by the LPC at BPP University. Being a lawyer in the energy sector means that I am at the forefront of global issues such as climate change and other environmental, social and governance issues as well as political policy decisions surrounding the supply of energy. These are multi-faceted issues with complex considerations ranging from energy poverty to climate change litigation. I strongly believe that first and foremost, having a diverse and inclusive workforce is the right thing to do and the legal profession is lagging behind. Equal opportunities must be given to people from all backgrounds starting during education to obtaining a trainee solicitor position and continuing through to opportunities for work and progression in the workplace. I also believe that having a diverse and inclusive workforce will generate better outcomes for organisations as a wider range of views and ways of thinking will, undoubtedly, generate a more versatile and adaptable workforce and a better client product.
