{"id":375,"date":"2014-01-15T11:02:16","date_gmt":"2014-01-15T11:02:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.aspiringsolicitors.co.uk\/?page_id=375"},"modified":"2024-04-10T14:04:23","modified_gmt":"2024-04-10T13:04:23","slug":"about-us","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.aspiringsolicitors.co.uk\/about-us\/","title":{"rendered":"About Us"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Increasing Diversity in the Legal Profession<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Aspiring Solicitors was established in Autumn 2013 by Chris White, then an Associate at Norton Rose Fulbright, in order to widen the pool of talent able to secure training contracts. \u00a0The primary aim of Aspiring Solicitors is to increase diversity in the legal profession.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What We Do<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We work with law firms and legal teams to provide opportunities for aspiring solicitors from diverse backgrounds and to enhance diversity and inclusion within the legal profession. Our programmes for students and graduates include coaching, mentoring, events and competitions.<\/p>\n<p>Since 2014, our diverse members have been offered over 4000+ training contracts and vacation schemes. To find out about how we can help you, please review our \u2018Member Services\u2019 section on our website.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Our Principles<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>By working with our members and our supporting firms and legal teams, we will:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide a free service to our members.<\/li>\n<li>Assist aspiring solicitors to achieve their potential (whilst managing expectations).<\/li>\n<li>Share knowledge.<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate positively (with universities and professionals).<\/li>\n<li>Develop the positive reputation of the legal profession.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The Aspiring Solicitors Goals<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We have three long-term objectives:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To provide free access, opportunity and assistance to students from underrepresented groups;<\/li>\n<li>To educate and inform the next generation of the legal profession about the importance of diversity; and<\/li>\n<li>To promote and encourage diversity from within the profession.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u201cUnderrepresented Groups\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2018Diversity\u2019 has a broad meaning and Aspiring Solicitors is committed\u00a0to increasing diversity across\u00a0all\u00a0underrepresented groups in the profession.
