On Friday 23rd of September, I attended my first ever event with Aspiring Solicitors as their Social Media Assistant! The event was held at the mighty Dentons (the largest law firm in the world)! Their offices are located in central London (I was probably more nervous than the students).
When I arrived at Dentons offices we met Alice Lines (Graduate Recruitment Assistant). We prepared the room, with some new AS event water diffusers and all that was needed was a room full of 50 AS members.
At 11am the students gathering in the foyer were invited to the main room. Alice welcomed everyone to the event explaining to attendees what Dentons were looking for in their future trainees. She also explained how having interests outside of your studies will help to make you stand out.
Chris then took over from Alice and gave a well rounded view of how being confident of what/who has made you who you are an attribute that law firms like Denton’s are looking for. Chris shared his own inspiring story that left a lot of people feeling uplifted and determined to achieve their goal of becoming a solicitor… Overall the importance to his talk was to encourage attendees to be proud of who they are. Even I was left feeling inspired.
The networking lunch began with no fewer than 15 Dentons trainees, associates and partners joining in. Everyone enjoyed themselves and this was reinforced by the brilliant feedback we received.
The event ended with the offer of a follow up mentoring program at Dentons which I am sure everyone will be keen to apply for!
From my perspective the event was amazing and I am looking forward to attending further events and to photograph these too!
