Future Trainee Solicitor - Norton Rose Fulbright

Firstly, Aspiring Solicitors provided unparalleled opportunities for me to attend Open Days at a number of firms in the City. It was only from this that I was able to gain an idea of what sort of firm I wanted to work at.

Secondly, the Aspiring Solicitors website provides a wealth of information that helped me to prepare for Open Days, Interviews and Assessment Days – tips that you wouldn’t necessarily have thought of before!

Thirdly, and most importantly to me, Aspiring Solicitors renewed the confidence I needed to persevere and assured me that securing a training contract with a top firm was completely in my grasp. Chris did this with inspirational talks at every event I attended, and Gemma did this on a more daily basis through the AS+ Mentoring Scheme. Gemma dared me to dream big and then guided me through the process. By the time I was preparing for my assessment days I felt I had come such a long way from when I first started writing applications.

I would say apply and go to every event possible – they are all invaluable, your confidence will increase and you will learn something new from every event. Also use the information provided on the website, as well as the Ask Us slots – but remember to be fast when trying to secure one on a Sunday evening!

Having attended a State Secondary School and non-Russell Group University, on top of having no connections with the legal world within in the City, I felt the chances of breaking into City law were minimal. I have now secured my dream training contract with Norton Rose Fulbright and that is because of Aspiring Solicitors. I will never be able to thank them enough!
