Aspiring Solicitors and the Government Legal Profession will be running a Diversity Summer Scheme 2025.
The Diversity Summer Scheme aims to provide work experience to undergraduates or graduates from diverse backgrounds which are currently underrepresented across the legal profession.
This will be a hybrid scheme with the option to attend either virtually or in person in London, Bristol, Leeds or Manchester from Monday 7 July to Friday 11 July 2025 for students who are selected to attend in-person (with Tuesday 8 July being virtual). The scheme will run from 7 July to 8 July for students attending virtually only.
About GLP
The Government Legal Profession comprises organisations which provide advice to departments such as the Treasury and public bodies such as the Competition and Markets Authority.
The Government Legal Department advises on most areas of law that you can think of and many of their lawyers are involved in litigation and making legislation.
About the Scheme
The Diversity Summer Scheme will feature interactive talks and workshops, including sessions exploring what it is like to work for the Government Legal Profession. There will also be introductions to key legal areas such as litigation, legislation, employment and commercial law with lawyers and administrators from across the organisation .
Insights into applying for legal jobs, with a session on the Government Legal Department’s recruitment process, along with general legal application tips will also be provided.
Each student will be allocated a buddy who will provide support and feedback on the work exercises, as well as offering career advice.
