Why is D&I important to your Law Society?
We are determined to overcome the “traditional” view of what is required to become a lawyer. We aim to ensure that everyone knows and feels entirely confident that they have an equal opportunity to strive towards their dream of becoming a solicitor, regardless of their background.
Highlights of ways that your Law Society has tried to increase diversity
We invited university alumni from Herbert Smith Freehills to speak about diversity and inclusion within their firm, including information on the different support networks available, and within the legal sector as a whole. Our attendees were also provided with the opportunity to network, allowing them to meet like-minded individuals already working as solicitors who uphold and cherish the value of diversity within law. Appointing a Diversity and Inclusion Officer dedicated to providing such opportunities for our members in the future highlights our goal of assuring everyone feels supported throughout their journey into the legal profession.
